They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you’re looking to make it the best, though, we recommend including some chocolate. We’re not talking about your standard out-of-the box cereal or regular chocolate spread on toast – we mean high quality, ethically sourced and carefully made raw chocolate: by far the best kind.

If you’re wondering how to introduce this delicious treat to your morning meal, don’t fret. We’ve brought together some of the best ideas from inspirational breakfast artists across the web. A quick glance at the pictures below and it’s clear to see they know what they’re doing. Enjoy!

Chocolate and banana pudding

You don’t need us to tell you how delicious this looks, but you might not have noticed how healthy it is. The main ingredient is banana, and seeing as the two used have been frozen beforehand, expect it to be as refreshing as it is indulgent.

The raw cacao powder turns everything the right colour, and taste-wise complements all of the other elements perfectly. Speaking of which, you’ll also need some Peruvian maca, coconut oil, hemp powder and ground golden flax seeds. The blueberries aren’t just there to make it look beautiful either – they’re super-good for you!

Smoothies are great for packing loads of nutrition and deliciousness into a single meal, so it’s no surprise they’re such a popular breakfast option. With this fantastic recipe from inspirationally creative Instagram user hanzipans, you can squeeze in your raw chocolate fix, too. What more could you ask?

The stunning creation above contains a whole host of natural ingredients, including coconut oil, oats, cashew butter and maca – as well, of course, as some raw cacao powder. You could top it all off with a garnishing of Raw Chocolate Goji Berries if you’re in the mood!

Chocolate fruit bowl

Who doesn’t love fruit in the morning? Whether you’re having it on its own or using it to sweeten some cereal, it provides a perfect energy-filled start to the day. If you’re looking to go one better, though, try adding some raw chocolate, just as our friends at Conscious have with this example.

Your fruit bowl breakfast can contain whatever your heart and taste buds desire, but we love the range on offer here. You can’t go wrong with a bit of kiwi, and the colours are sure to wake you up even on the most difficult of mornings.

Strawberry oat smoothie bowl

Proof that smoothies shouldn’t always be destined for drinking glasses, this recipe brings together some of our favourite breakfast ingredients to create something rather special. Beneath the sprinkled raw chocolate topping, you’ll find a mix of bananas, dates, cinnamon, chia seeds, rolled oats and, of course, strawberries.

You can see the finished product above, but head to its creator, Anya Kassoff’s website for more information on how to make one yourself.

Chocolate beetroot pancakes

If you’re looking to take some American inspiration and make pancakes for breakfast, this recipe from food blogger Mandy Mazliah may well be the one for you.

First of all, you have the extremely tempting pancakes themselves. Made using cooked beetroot and cacao powder as two of the main ingredients, they’re a lot better for you than they might look at first! Who said great-tasting food has to be unhealthy? Vegans could simply supplement the egg for vegan egg replacer or ground flaxseed.

As if that wasn’t enough, there’s a side of raw chocolate hazelnut sauce inspired by Deliciously Ella to make the whole dish that extra bit sweeter. Chocolate overload? There’s no such thing!

It’s getting us hungry just thinking about these incredible looking dishes. It’s fair to say breakfast will never be the same once you’ve added these to your repertoire. Bon appétit!
